John Reginald Doak

John was born July 26, 1907 in Sherbrooke, Quebec. He was raised in Keene, N.H. and attended school through High School there. He was given an education in Music at Mt Herman School for Boys at Northfield, Mass graduating about 1928.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a Mason and was active in many Community organizations. Rotary Club was one of his favorite groups and he served in Executive positions in that organization for a number of years.

John married  Gerda Besenbruch in 1929 and they had two sons, John Jr. and Donald Paul. John went to work for W.T. Grant and Company and in a very short time became a Store Manager. He left Grant's in the late '30's and went to Omaha, Nebr. to become the Assistant Manager of the J.C. Penney Store there. He remained a merchant with the J.C. Penney Company for the the rest of his working years, managing stores at Wheeling, W.Va. and Freeport, Ill. He and his second wife, Marcella Ann (Moody) owned and operated a high end Gift Store in Freeport after his retirement. They sold out in 1990 and moved to Omaha where they lived until his death in January 1997. He is survived by 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was 89.
